Have you ever wondered how to use a ukulele with your very young child?
Good news - here's a song for this very purpose!
In the song "Ukulele", Julie encourage young players to hear, explore and create using three simple key techniques that create contrasting timbres (sounds) on the ukulele.
Techniques
Plucking individual strings, which also encourages hearing higher and lower individual pitches and pitch matching with the voice.
Strumming open strings. Without worrying about playing chords, you will get a lovely C6 or Am7 chord which we can use to strum to keep the beat, and also play with strumming faster or slower.
Gently tapping the ukulele body, which again encourages keeping in time to the beat.
Video
Pluck, strum, tap and play-along with the video. Older children, parents and caregivers can play-along with the full chords, but don't forget to model the techniques to your young ones.
