Children's Educational Music & Songs

News 2010

Julie has previously presented workshops and seminars in Australia, Finland, Estonia and Singapore.

She has completed writing a chapter for a new music education book to be published in Finland and edited by Elina Kivela –Taskinen. This year she has been invited to present her music at the ISME conferences in Italy in July, as well as conducting workshops and seminars throughout New Zealand.

She was commissioned to create a CD of songs and dances for the New Zealand Highland Dance Association. This will be launched at their National Conference in Christchurch this September.

Julie was invited to present at the "A Good Childhood" conference in Christchurch on how music affects the developing brain and why it is so essential for child development.

Julie and Louise will be presenting in Christchurch, Hawkes Bay, Melbourne and Otago this year so far.

Soili Perkio from Finland is presenting a workshop in Christchurch on May 1st. Julie and Louise worked with Soili in Finland in 2008, and Julie presented with her at a conference in Italy. Her work with music for babies is truly inspiring.

Christchurch Earthquake Update

Just to let you know we are safe and sending our love to all of our Christchurch families.

CD and DVD sales are still available as usual - we were very fortunate that our stock was unaffected.

To our music families: Music for all days and classes this week and next is on Saturday morning at The Champion Centre, Burwood Hospital, Burwood Rd.

Under 2's 10am; 2-3 Year Olds 10.45am; 4-5 Year Olds 11.30am. We would LOVE to see you there. Please pass onto any of our music families that you know of.

We will resume normal classes as soon as possible and we have options for venues lined up until the Music Centre's future is known.

We want you all to know how much we are thinking of you and hope that you are all staying strong.

We are more inspired than ever to continue the music and to help rebuild our community. Music is so powerful in its ability to heal and remind us that there is hope.
